BEST GYOZA SNACK: QUICK 20-MINUTE RECIPE

gyoza appetizer

Craving a quick and delectable snack that rivals restaurant-quality appetizers right in your kitchen? Look no further than this quick and easy gyoza recipe that is so delicious. While gyoza is a classic, it sometimes can be boring. However, this quick recipe is surprisingly delightful despite its simplicity.

Gyoza Quick Snack that satisfies all your cravings!!

My cooking philosophy involves transforming the ordinary into delicious dishes. Elevating flavours can turn a simple dish into something extraordinary. For this dish, you only require frozen gyoza, which is always on hand. With gyoza, —you can steam it, pan-fry it, and it’s always served with sauce on the side.

This recipe takes the fried gyoza to the next level! It adds the umami flavour you want—a harmonious blend of crispy, fresh, crunchy, savoury, and creamy flavours.

Prep Time – 8 mins Total Cook and Assembly: 20 Mins

Ingredients

12 Gyoza

1 1/2 tbsp Siracha

1/3 cup Mayo

1/2 Lemon

1/2 tsp chilli flakes (optional)

pinch of Salt

1/2 tsp Minced garlic

1/3 cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Chilli oil

Butter

To Garnish

Cilantro ( handful)

1 1/2 tbsp Fried onion

1/2 Green onion

Method:

Making the Sauce and Toppings:

  • In a bowl, combine mayo, and siracha first and mix well. Add more siracha as preferred. Squeeze in a splash of lemon. If you need to, feel free to add more.
  • To this mixture add 1/2 tsp of minced ginger and salt. You can adjust to taste.
  • If you have a plastic squeeze bottle fill it with this sauce and use it to drizzle the sauce over the gyoza. If you don’t have a bottle, you can also take a spoon and drizzle the sauce on the gyoza.
  • Take a handful of cilantro, and roughly chop it.
  • Take one green onion and thinly slice half the onion. Sprinkle some on the gyoza.
  • Fried onions- you can buy these. They are usually in Asian grocery stores. You can use 1 1/2 tbsp to garnish gyoza.

Making the Gyoza:

  1. Take frozen gyoza and defrost it in the microwave for a few minutes. You can use a whole packet depending on how many you want to serve as an appetizer. For this recipe, I used 12.
  2. In a medium hot pan, heat butter mixed with some chilli oil ( you can also use regular oil). When the pan is medium hot add in the gyoza, and place them face down on the largest surface areas, to get a nice fry.
  3. After the gyoza has fried for a few mins on each side add a bit of oyster sauce to the pan and quickly coat the gyoza.
  4. Place the gyoza onto the plate and sprinkle with some chilli flakes and shredded cheese. Melt in the microwave for a few minutes until the cheese is all melted.
  5. Drizzle the mayo sauce on top of the gyoza and top off with chopped cilantro, sliced green onions and fried onions.
